Et tu, Brute? Is Latin for even you Brutus?
After Cesar was killed his grandnephew took over named Octavius.
Octavian- AKA Caesar Augustus. He took over at the age of eighteen.
Some people tried to knock him out of power and he had them killed. He is known
as the first emperor. Begins the Pax
Romana- Latin for roman peace. Built roads. Aqueducts which brings water
from rivers to the city. Set up civil service to take care of roads, the grain
supply, even a postal service. Took at power at age 76 in A.D.
Jesus- was a roman citizen and a practicing Jew. At 30 he
began his ministry, preaching to the poor in the empire, and reaching out to
outsiders. Statements like “ my kingdom is not of this world” made the Romans
and the jews nervous, and they began to plan his execution. The governor of the
Roman province of Judaea, Pontius Pilate ( prompted by Jewish high priests), sentences
Jesus to death by crucifixion.
August means the honored one

Today in class we finished seeing the rest of the projects. We
than took notes out of the book I left my book at school so I can’t really transfer
my notes to my blog. We also started to learn about Julius Cesar. How he
started sharing the power with three guys than later became a great leader
because he had the respect and likeness of the common people and the rich at
the time.

the type of cookies and walnuts. It was very good. I also liked when I was in

the Romans were really known for building roads. they made brick roads like cobble stone roads.
the Etruscan were known for setting up the grid system.
the Romans also did gladiator fighting for entertain purposes. sometimes to the death of them.
the 12 tables was where the laws were all written down so people could see the laws and people couldn't say that didn't know they were getting arrested for something because they didn't know it was a law.
the plebeians were lacking a branch in the government so the assembly was there representation for the plebeians( the middle and poor people)
if you were elected to the house that elects someone from the middle or lower class you were called a tribute.
the Romans built into their constitutions that they would give one person all the power and would be called a dictator. you were only the dictator for 6 months and than you would go back to what you were doing.
the councils were in power for one year. than you can run again 10 years later
the Punic wars
1st war
264 to 241 BC was manly a naval war between the lands of Sicily and Africa fought between Carthage and Rome
2nd war Carthage and Rome

today in class we took more notes on Rome. we learned about Tarquir the Proud- he was a tyrant didnt give his people any power or freedom. He ruled with an iron fist. so the people threw him out of power and ostracize him. He was the last king in Rome. They used him as an example to never be like him. After they threw him out they mad their own form of government which is democracy, aristocracy and monarchy all in one. the US molded their government from this.

After rome became more established they drained a swamp out so they could build on the marshy land.

today in class Mr.Schick well aka Chi-Cago did a little rap for us. I knew Mr.Schick and I have something in common i also have an alter ego mine is Jerry Love and he is a younger version of a Jimmy Buffett. He only comes out in rare times. He stays hidden away a lot. Well the rap actually seems like it is going to help because it is in some type of melody and has a certain tune to it.
